$50 a week grocery challenge

we decided we needed to do something to spice up our weekly meal rotation.  we were feeling like we weren't being very creative with our recipes, and we felt like we were wasting a lot of food!  the solution we came up with was to spend only $50.00 a week at the grocery store.  it sounded nearly impossible at first, but after some careful planning, we've made it work for the past 4 weeks.  we try to cook one new recipe a week, so we start there.  it's amazing the recipes you can come up with by using things you totally forgot were in your pantry or freezer.  here are just a few highlights from the past couple weeks :).

soy ginger wings.  one of the best things we've made, ever.  the best part is, they're not fried, but baked!  we made them with homemade french fries (also in the oven).  this was my kind of meal!!

we love the orange rolls pillsbury makes, so we found a recipe really similar.  yum!!

italian sausage and mozzarella calzones.  we made a batch of dough, and used it for these one night, and a pizza the other.  double yum!

it has been so fun to come up with new recipes together, and it has felt rewarding to not be wasting food (or money)!!  i'll keep y'all posted on our progress ;).
