ry and i knew that we needed a diaper bag, but the age old problem kept arising... they are either hideous, not so manly, or toooo expensive. i had my heart set on a petunia picklebottom, but could think of about a million other things we could spend $175 on. so what was ry's answer to this plaguing issue? what's his answer to most problems?
let's just make it!
this was hands down the most involved and complicated thing we've made to date. and if ryan ever tries to tell you he's not good at math- don't believe him. he single handedly took the measurements and created a pattern.
i know he's my husband and all, so i'm a little biased... but to watch this man create something from nothing is truly amazing. his kind of smarts are some that i myself have never had the privilege of experiencing.
i love all the pockets and secret compartments ;o). perfect for dirty clothes, bottles, and any and every other baby thing we could possibly need!
i think he'll love getting his little tush cleaned here ;o).
the devil is in the details, and i love this one on the back.
the best thing about this project was that we completed everything for right around $35. we got both the striped and gray canvases on sale for 70% off because they were remnants. the place where we spent the most money was on everything to tie the backpack together- zippers, snaps, foam for the changing pad, that kind of stuff. that said, i think $35 is pretty good for a custom made item we'll no doubt get great use out of!
and we're thankful for those that got wounded in the battle. our sewing machine was not quite ready for such a heavy duty job. neither were these needles or pins ;o).
