five (and a half) months with max!

maybe one month soon i can actually write the post on time! until then, here's what max has been up to this past month!
we started some food with our sweet one! we've been doing rice cereal at dinner and avocado occasionally. he loves the cereal and has done great with the new transition! it's kind of amazing how quickly he picked up on the idea of opening his mouth and going through the motions of eating. the avocado was not a huge hit at first (insert sour face here), but he's slowly coming around to it :o). his favorite part of eating dinner is the bib- he'd much rather eat that than the food ;o).

his finer motor skills are getting stronger every day. he can hold and manipulate his toys, and even manages to grab the binky and get it in his mouth! baby genius- we think so!

this month has brought another major change- max is sleeping in his crib at night! it was definitely ry and i that were wanting him sleeping in our room at night, the transition was seamless... for him :o)! the past few weeks he's also been snuggling his blanket whenever he sleeps which is beyond presh! month five has also found us in full fledged cloth diapering! it is definitely more work and a dirty job at times, but we think it's worth it! his diapered bootie is about twice the size, but oh so squishy and cute!

max was as excited as we were about his new pediatrician :o). we had an amazing experience, shots and all! our hearts are so relieved and rested in jeff (our new doc), which is a feeling we never had in LA. one more bit of proof that shows us moving home was the absolute right decision. our little one is now 14 pounds 3.5 ounces and 25 inches. jeff said he could just look at max and tell how healthy he is (yay!). he also told us that when he could just see what a special baby he is, and that he was 'captivating'. we couldn't agree more, and are so happy to have someone (who's not family ;o)) that can see that!

we are convinced that a tooth has to be breaking through any time now! he is chomping down on everything! selfishly i'm not ready to be done with that tooth-less grin :o(.

within the last two weeks max started sitting on his own! he will still throw himself back from time to time, but he's getting sturdier!

and his new favorite game- sitting in front of the mirror and talking to a little cutie :o).

max is also getting more into books! when we read he loves to look at the pictures and pat the pages :o).

and he finally got his first taste of his foot ;o).

and another new trick for the books- clacking his tongue!

there are really no words to explain how we feel about this baby boy. he is pure joy and the love of our lives!
