thank god for my sweet husband who puts up with my ever changing decorating whims. i get a vision in my head and it's hard for me to focus on anything until it's done. the good news is, our kitchen looks so cute after its mini-makeover!
ry and i don't usually do gifts for each other unless they're home made. for christmas this year it was going to be nearly impossible for us to create something without the other knowing. our solution was to make something together for our house. i wish i could say i did more than just painting the background white on our belated christmas canvases, but that would just be a lie. ry did an amazing job bringing my fork and spoon idea to fruition!
the chalkboard for a menu was the next thing i just couldn't live without. thankfully it was my birthday so we had a little extra cash to make it happen. we got the frame half off at michael's, and made the chalkboard for $8.00! i also wish i could take credit for this super cute menu, but again- not so much. the great thing about ry and i is i come up with the ideas and he makes them! i wish his artistic talent would rub off on me a little more, it's hard to be married to someone who is naturally gifted at everything!
we had to find a new home for our clock, but i think he fits in quite nicely with the spices!
we topped off our new look with these place-mats. with the canvases being mostly white, our white table really needed some color. i love the patterns of these fabrics, and love that they're a canvasy-cotton. what i love best about these is that we had the fabric left over from another project, so they were essentially free!
and in our new, happy kitchen, happy things happen- like this mongolian beef! if you like p.f. chang's version, you will love this!!

I just love what you guys have done!!! LOVE the chalkboard!!! It is so neat you two are so creative and share what you have done!!! Love you!
I love it! I especially love the clocks new home and the place mats (and the chalkboard and the art... haha!)! Every season I fight the urge to buy new place mats... if I could just learn to sew, the possibilities could be endless! I'd also like to thank you for that picture of the beef- I can't stop thinking about PF Changs :-)
