parlez vous francais?

ever had a french cookie called a macaron?  a special father-in-law of mine is plain crazy about them.  every time m & j come to visit we make a trip to the grove so michael can buy a package of paulette's famous cookies.

since michael was going to be here the weekend before father's day, we thought we could surprise him with a home made version of his favorite treat :o).

we started with a trusty recipe from good old martha and it began...

ry folded, and folded, and folded... 65 folds!

i don't think martha has a single recipe that doesn't involve parchment paper.  she must have stock in it ;o).

chocolate cookie with raspberry filling.

on our first batch of vanilla cookies, we didn't know that 65 folds was what it took to make the batter "smooth and shiny."  they didn't come out quite as pretty as the chocolate, but still yummy!  the chocolate ganache filling was also yum, just a little on the messier side.

our 'professional' packaging ;o).

i wonder if we could charge $25 a box like paulette??  this could be our claim to fame ;o).

i crocheted the basket for the cookies, but then we had a packaging re-design :o).  if you or someone you love loves macarons, give the recipe a try!
