ryan is 29!!

last weekend i got to celebrate ryan.  i think i love ryan's birthday more than my own, just because i love getting to treat him special, and him actually letting me!

saturday we went to the horse races at santa anita.  it was one of the most fun things we've done in LA!  we are so sad we didn't discover it until now because all of our family and friends that have come to visit would love it!  the track feels like something straight out of the 1940's, and there are plenty of old men smoking cigars to add to the feeling ;o).

we started out by just watching a few races and really getting into the spirit.  then we decided we'd go check out the horses and do a few trial runs on who we thought would win, before we actually bet any money.

we tried to just get a feeling about which horse we thought was a winner.  after a few times of coming nowhere close, we bought a program to read some stats ;o).

and by the very last race, we got the hang of it!  we doubled our money... from $2.00 to $4.00!  hey a win is a win ;o).

i can't think of a better way we could've spent ry's birthday eve, and i can't think of a better way to spend an afternoon for $5 a person!! an added bonus- these mountains gave us a little taste of home.

on ry's actual day, we had an amazing day filled with gifts, bbq, movies, and lots of love!

oh, and... texas sheet cake!

we don't think 29 is so bad, what could be better than being married to your best friend with a sweet baby boy on the way?

happy birthday to my sweet ry, i seem to love you more every year, which i never think is even possible.
