the nursery!!!

we are so excited to finally share some pics of the nursery!! it was so fun decorating a room with a theme (and a baby boy) in mind! it was definitely the first time ry and i had such a distinct vision from the get-go.  the rest of our house has sort of taken years to come together, and continues to be a work in progress ;o).

i could have done a whole post on the dresser/ changing table. it took a lot of work (mostly on ry's part), but it came out perfect!!

we didn't snap a before shot, but this was it...
we bought this when we first moved to LA because our dresser wouldn't fit in our first apartment ;o). we had since gotten another dresser, and were so happy to be able to repurpose this for our babe!! ry painted it with annie sloan's chalk paint (if you haven't heard of it you must check it out)! then came another issue. we wanted white fabric drawers, thought that would be easy and cute. only problem... we couldn't find white!! ry's solution--- we'll just make the drawers!
SO HANDSOME!! ry took all the dimensions, got the wood cut, and we got to sanding.
each drawer ending up costing just about the same as the fabric bins would have. it took a little (ok, a lot) more work, but we ended up with something that will last and that looks more like furniture!
we figured we should line the drawers so we didn't end up with splinters in little one's clothes... ouch!

... and...
the finished product!! it couldn't be more perfect!!
the knobs are definitely the coup de grĂ¢ce for me. we searched for vintage-ish knobs everywhere and finally ended up with these from ebay. they weren't that much more than the plain jane ones that we were finding everywhere, so we thought we'd splurge just a touch. hey- it's for the baby ;o).
i wish you could see the fabric for the changing table a little better because we love it!! it has little sail boats, and we were so excited when the fabric was on sale for $1.99/ yard!! it really brings great color to the area, and was easy to make. if you need a new changing pad cover, check out this tutorial- easy and quick!!
we love how the mini-picture collage came together! all of the frames came from garage sales and ry painted them. such an affordable way to add tons of personality to the room! my personal fave is the painting ry did on the bottom left- so sweet!!

and just a few other details from the now finished nursery!!
now all we need is the baby! 8 days until our due date... ahhhhh!!
